Opinions and Opposition Week 4: Thoughts from the Classroom

Hello readers, I hope everyone is enjoying being back from Spring Break, or if you’re not in school just enjoying life!

This week, much like Week 1, I wanted to do a poll asking the general opinion of others on if they believe Marijuana should we Illegal, Legal Medically, Legal Recreationally or Legal both Medically and Recreationally. However, I wanted to ask our class in our Facebook group. This way we can get a better idea of the views of our class and hopefully get some differing opinions and views.

My Hypothesis: Based on the general age of our class I believe most of the class will believe that Marijuana should be legalized medically, although not completely recreationally. I’m also hoping for a good turnout in the poll. Our classes Facebook group only consists of 17 members so I hope at least 10 will participate.

The Results:

Conclusion: Unfortunately, the vote count was far less than I thought. Out of the 17 people in our class group, only 4 people answered. Based off this, I was correct about more people believing it should be legalized. However, I wish I had gotten more options. Because of this, in today’s class, I asked 7 others what they thought about the issue. This got me up to 11, 1 more than what I was hoping for. They all believed it should be medically used, however, 2 thought it shouldn’t be recreationally, although depending on how it's regulated they would be open-minded too. The idea of what people thought about regulations then decide was interesting to me. Next week, I’m going to look into that more and see what people think based on my past 2 polls.
